# Delete your account

This English translation is provided for convenience. The German version at tablemates.social/legal is the legally binding one; in case of any discrepancy, the German text prevails.

This page describes how to delete your TableMates account, what is deleted
in the process, and what remains for a while and for what reason. The
provider of the app is the controller named in the
[Impressum (Legal Notice)](https://tablemates.social/legal/?d=impressum).

## 1. Deleting in the app

1. Open TableMates and log in.
2. Tap **Profile** at the bottom.
3. Scroll to the end and tap **Delete your account**.
4. Confirm with your password and tap **Delete permanently**.

Deletion is carried out immediately. You will be logged out and can no
longer log in with this account.

## 2. Deleting without the app

If you no longer have the app installed, it works the same way on the
website: on [tablemates.social/konto-loeschen](https://tablemates.social/konto-loeschen/),
enter your email address and password, confirm, done. Deletion happens
immediately, with no waiting period and no confirmation query by email.

If you can no longer log in, write to [contact@tablemates.social](mailto:contact@tablemates.social)
from the email address you registered with. Subject: "Konto löschen"
(German for "delete account"). We will delete the account within 30 days and
confirm this to you by email. If the request comes from a different address,
we will check back once to make sure the request is from you.

## 3. What is deleted

The following is deleted together with the account:

- Profile: display name, about-me text, occupation, photo link, home area,
  availability, means of transport
- Email address, year of birth (and month of birth, if applicable) and
  password
- Interests, tastes, languages, skills and areas
- Phone number and address, as well as everything of these that you shared
  with others
- Connections, connection requests, your connection code, notes and log on
  your contacts
- Blocks, reminder and suggestion settings
- Feedback and tickets you sent from the app
- Login sessions and password reset codes

The account itself is anonymized: no record remains that can be attributed
to you.

## 4. What remains and for how long

- **Shared content** remains without any reference to you: meetups you took
  part in continue for the others, and your contributions there appear as
  "deleted account".
- **Reports** you submitted or that were received against you remain stored
  for moderation for as long as they are needed for review and for
  preventing abuse (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- **Backup copies** of the database are kept for 14 days and then deleted
  automatically. After 14 days at the latest, your data has also disappeared
  from the backups.

## 5. Deleting individual data without deleting the account

You can remove a lot and still stay:

- **Profile → Edit:** clear the about-me text, occupation, photo link, phone
  number and address; deselect interests, tastes, languages and areas. Saved
  empty means deleted.
- **Contacts tab:** delete individual entries in the log for a contact.
- **Safety:** lift blocks.
- **Settings:** turn off reminders.

Contact details you released after a meetup and individual connections
cannot yet be withdrawn in the app. For these, and for anything else you
cannot reach yourself, write to
[contact@tablemates.social](mailto:contact@tablemates.social); we will take
care of it within 30 days (Art. 17 GDPR).
